Dreams and visions collection, 1810-1878.

Bound volumes, notebooks, and loose pages, 1810-1878, some original and some contemporary copies, containing religious visions, prophecies, revelations, rules, assurances of faith, and religious rituals received from Mother Ann and other holy spirits by individual Shakers; some include poetry and music; many concern the daily life of Shakers, their food, dress, child rearing practices, and relations between men and women. Other items include religious essays and narrative of religious experiences of Joseph Pelham, Watervliet, N.Y., 1863; Elisha Blakeman's book, Watervliet, N.Y., containing letters, visions, poetry and prose extracts, Bible commentary, and work record of the Brothers, 1840s-1850s; illustrated visions brought by a Native Indian spirit, 1845; and a manuscript copy of a letter from South Union, Ky., concerning the rise of spiritualism there, 1839.
